Welcome to SSERM 2015

The Summer School in Empirical Research Methods welcomes PhD students and postdocs from partner and non-partner institutions, and from the University of St. Gallen.

The Summer School in Empirical Research Methods (SSERM) at the University of St.Gallen, Switzerland, is a new and high-calibre 2-week integrated programme teaching methodology for PhD students and postdocs from leading universities all over the world.

SSERM offers an attractive course-based learning atmosphere on different aspects of empirical research. Participants can choose from different courses offered as block seminars by internationally renowned lecturers.

The Summer School in Empirical Research Methods (SSERM) is a new flagship programme on methodology at the University of St.Gallen. First initiated in 2013 under the lead of Academic Directors Prof. Dr. Andreas Herrmann and Prof. Dr. Michael Lechner,  SSERM offered 12 high-quality intense block seminars for PhD students and postdocs taught by renowned international faculty.

Due to the enormous success of SSERM in 2014 with 225 international participants and overwhelming positive feedback,  SSERM will expand in 2015.

SSERM fixed exchange rate


To avoid any currency risks for our participants, SSERM has decided to fix the exchange rate between the Euro and the Swiss franc at about 1.20 (1 Euro = 1.20 CHF). All SSERM fees will therefore be given in Euro.
